I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the two fighters met personally to promote next month's bout.

Former two-time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I'm going to injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will seriously aim to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically famous for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather criticized ex Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's largest financial successes, consistently making huge earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the customary stare-down, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is truly going ahead.
